Yes! In 2023, Duluth-based Miller-Dwan Foundation acquired the former Courage Kenny, now NAR, from Allina Health’s Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Minneapolis. NAR now operates as an LLC under the Miller-Dwan Foundation. Services have been entirely rebranded. Local ownership allows NAR more autonomy and the flexibility to engage the community in new ways that provide additional benefit to people with disabilities, community and financial partners right here in the northland.
As a leading disability service organization, NAR has led efforts across the Northland to promote community participation and inclusion of people with disabilities in outdoor recreation for over 4 decades.
NAR offers a wide range of seasonal community-based adaptive recreation programs and events that cater to a wide variety of interests. The variety and choices of programs and adaptive equipment offered give individuals and families –no matter their age, ability-level, or financial situation — a multitude of opportunities to participate more fully in community activities.
Yes, we’d love to have you join us! We have over 300 Northland volunteers who help deliver exciting and fun recreation programs for youth and adults with physical disabilities, vision loss and youth on the autism spectrum. There are opportunities throughout the year and within every activity.
